Smallville star Tom Welling recntly revealed he would be willing to play Batman in the Arrowverse.
For ten years, Tom Welling portrayed young Clark Kent before his time as Superman on The CW’s Smallville. Now, eights years after the series finale of Smallville, it appears Tom Welling would be willing to play Batman if the opportunity presented itself.
During an appearance on former Smallville co-star Michael Rosenbaum’s podcast, the conversation turned to the possibility of portraying the same or different DC Comics characters in a new project. When Michael Rosenbaum asked Tom Welling if he would take on the role of Batman, the Smallville star explained that he would accept the chance if offered:
“Yeah, I do like Batman and I think there is some room to grow there. And, yeah, it would be different.”
Of course, Robert Pattinson is already set to be the new Batman in the Caped Crusader’s next live-action feature film by Matt Reeves, but there’s still the TV corner for Tom Welling to don the cape and cowl. Do you think the former Smallville star would make a good Dark Knight? Let us know in the comments!
Plot details for The Batman are currently under wraps, though the film will center around a younger Bruce Wayne and features a Rogues’ Gallery of villains that reportedly includes Catwoman and The Penguin. The Matt Reeves film will follow Batman during his formative years as Gotham City’s protector and will make use of the Dark Knight’s detective skills to a greater extent than previous DC Films. It is expected to be the first chapter in a new trilogy with Robert Pattinson as the Caped Crusader.
Matt Reeves’ The Batman is one of the many projects currently being developed by Warner Bros. and DC. These projects include The Flash standalone film, Green Lantern Corps, Black Adam, Cyborg, Supergirl, New Gods, and Nightwing.
The Batman will be released in theaters on June 25, 2021. Stay tuned for more updates!
