Daisy Ridley Confirms ‘Tomb Raider’ Discussions

Earlier this month, we found out that Star Wars: The Force Awakens star Daisy Ridley was among a number of actresses that were being considered for the role of Lara Croft in MGM’s and Warners’ Tomb Raider reboot. While the movie doesn’t even have a script yet, meaning that it’s going to be a while until it comes out, it’s clear that Ridley has already become a fan-favorite for the role.

In a recent interview with The Hollywood Reporter at the Empire Awards, Ridley was asked whether or not the recent rumors regarding her involvement with the project are indeed true. The actress revealed that there “have been conversations,” but it sounds like nothing is set in stone yet, as she hasn’t actually been offered the coveted role.

While it’s still too early to tell if she’s going to land the role, her Star Wars co-star, John Boyega, would definitely like to see her as Lara Croft at some point in the future. Here’s what Boyega told the site at the event:

“I played Tomb Raider the game, it’s a new take and I think the movies are going to be based on that version. But I texted Daisy [and] was like, ‘this is you!’ and ‘you need to get on that because you could be Lara Croft.’ She should be.”

The Tomb Raider reboot will be directed by Roar Uthaug. While plot details are currently being kept tightly under wraps, it’s said that the movie will follow Lara Croft on her very first adventure. What do you guys think? Sound-off your thoughts on the news in the comment section below.
