Suicide Squad just took a home a huge win at the Oscars tonight winning an Academy Award for best makeup and hairstyling and Twitter is freaking out. The film is now the fourth film in history based on a DC comic to win at the Oscars.
The film itself was incredibly divisive but one thing fans could agree on was the film’s standout, Margot Robbie as she brought to life the iconic DC character Harley Quinn. Robbie delivered a fantastic performance and there’s no doubt that a huge part of the film’s win for the Oscar was due in large part to the incredible work done by Alessandro Bertolazzi, Giorgio Gregorini, and Christopher Nelson to bring that character to life. The team also created a bold new look for The Joker and took what some may have seen as a risk and created a practical suit for Killer Croc whereas most other productions would have most likely gone the route of CG.
But after tonight’s much-deserved win, Twitter erupted in shock and disbelief over the film’s Oscar win.
Suicide Squad has now won more Oscars than Peter O’Toole.

The reality here that people seem to be ignoring is that it really isn’t that surprising the film won considering its competition.
