Here’s An Update On Sony’s ‘Uncharted’ Movie

Uncharted

UPDATE: Director Seth Gordon is apparently off Sony‘s Uncharted. The project is in development hell because Rothman came in and asked them to do the movie at a smaller budget. Sony was hoping this was their Indiana Jones and Rothman is looking at it like Resident Evil.

On Thursday nights I usually host a one hour Q&A session #AskElMayimbe on my Periscope account. It’s way for me to engage with you guys, the readers, but also to pick up leads on what I should be investigating. Sometimes it leads to a big scoop, sometimes it leads to nothing more than an update.

The one thing I constantly get is what is the latest with the Uncharted movie over at Sony. Last we heard, according to the leaked Sony emails, Safe House writer David Guggenheim sent a script to Amy Pascal in July 2014. Then The Hurt Locker writer Mark Boal has since come aboard to write a new draft.

So where are we today? According to my sources, the Uncharted script is back in development and they’re doing more work on it. Yep, development hell. That’s it. Bummer. Sorry guys.

I wish I had more to say but like I said, sometimes the trail leads to a big scoop, and sometimes it leads to a minor update. In this case, Uncharted is an example of the latter. I’ll be monitoring Uncharted‘s development so I will update you guys as it progresses.
