Director Andy Serkis offered a small update on Tom Hardy’s Venom 2.

Sony’s Universe of Marvel Characters launched with Tom Hardy’s Venom, which proved to be a box office hit in spite of receiving mixed reviews from moviegoers. Now, a Venom sequel is currently in the midst of production with Andy Serkis sitting in the director’s chair.

During an interview with Digital Spy, Andy Serkis offered a hint at what to expect from Venom 2 and praised Tom Hardy’s work on the sequel. While Andy Serkis could not divulge much information, he did note that the bond between Tom Hardy’s Eddie Brock and the symbiote will deepen in Venom 2:

“Well, you know, I really can’t talk too much about it – I know, boring – but we’re 40 days into the shoot and it’s really thrilling. We’ve got the magnificent Tom Hardy, who’s obviously at the centre of it, and we sort of see a deepening of the relationship between him and obviously there’s a nemesis character and… that’s all I can say.”

Directed by Andy Serkis from a script written by Kelly Marcel, Venom 2 stars Tom Hardy as Eddie Brock, Michelle Williams as Anne Weying, and Woody Harrelson as Carnage. No Time to Die star Naomie Harris was recently reported to be in talks for the role of Shriek.
