Venom director Ruben Fleischer is reportedly at the top of Sony’s list to direct Tom Holland in the upcoming Uncharted film.
Tom Holland’s upcoming Uncharted film has had a bit of trouble over the past month. In December of 2019, the film lost its director, Travis Knight, due to scheduling conflicts. Sony reportedly wanted the film shot before Tom Holland’s upcoming Spider-Man film went into production causing Knight to leave the film. With the third Spider-Man film set to go into production in the summer, any director would be hard-pressed to wrap up filming before then. Now, however, Sony just might be tapping Venom‘s director to take over the production of the Uncharted film.
According to a new report from Deadline, Venom director Ruben Fleischer is the front runner to direct Tom Holland’s upcoming Uncharted film. Ruben Fleischer has worked very well for Sony having directed Venom which became one of the biggest films of 2018. Venom was, of course, not well-received critically but grossed over $800M that was reported to be around $100M. Now it seems that Sony wants Fleischer to bring that Venom talent to in Tom Holland’s upcoming Uncharted film.

Based on the PlayStation video game series of the same name, the Uncharted film is set to chronicle the first encounter between Tom Holland’s Nathan Drake and the fortune seeker and businessman Victor Sullivan. The film is reportedly influenced by a sequence in Uncharted 3: Drake’s Deception.
From a script written by Art Marcum & Matt Holloway and Rafe Judkins, Uncharted is being produced by Sony PlayStation Productions, with Asad Qizilbash and Carter Swan producing alongside Charles Roven, Avi Arad, Alex Gartner, and Ari Arad. NaughtyDog is not involved with the project.
