This new adaptation of one of the most iconic Spider-Man villains is the second iteration of Venom seen on the big screen. Before Tom Hardy stepped into the role for this standalone story, actor Topher Grace played the character in Sam Raimi’s Spider-Man 3. Many critics and fans were underwhelmed with the film as a whole, and the use of Venom was a significant part of why. While people enjoyed the design and found the action involving Venom in the finale to be exciting, many also felt that he was severely underused and by the end of the day, wasted.

Hopefully, director Ruben Fleischer and the rest of the cast and crew have brought an interesting new story to the table with this film. Now that we are less than a week away, we are finally going to see what Sony has in store for the rest of their Spider-Man universe adjacent to the webhead’s presence in the Marvel Cinematic Universe.
