Video: Millie Bobby Brown Shaves Head As Eleven For ‘Stranger Things’

For those who have been living under a rock (or perhaps the Upside Down), Stranger Things has become one of Netflix’s most popular shows. Viewers have been transfixed from this effortlessly engaging series that serves as a wonderful tribute to the films of the 1980’s, mixed in with Spielbergian influences as well as sprinkle of Stephen King.

One of the breakout stars of this show, Millie Bobby Brown captivated audiences with her unbelievable portrayal as the mysterious child, Eleven. This show is worth the binge watch for her performance alone, and a video recently emerged of the young actress getting her hair shaved to transform into the powerful heroine.

Brown was nervous about the prospects of shaving her head for the role, but due to the motivation of the show’s creators, The Duffer Brothers, the actress felt more at ease with the situation. Brown recalled the moment that convinced her to go through with it in an interview with IndieWire.

I sat in the chair, and, one by one, they cut it off. I was like, “Oh no. What have I done?” And they told me, “I want you to have the mind-frame of Charlize Theron in Mad Max.” And we did this sort of split-screen of her and me, and the resemblance was amazing! I thought, “Wow, that’s such an amazing way to put it, you know?” It was the best decision I’ve ever, ever made.

Before I heard of this information, Furiosa was on my mind throughout my binge of Stranger Things. Eleven gave me some of those vibes that Theron brought into Mad Max: Fury Road. Her being a strong female character as well as her shaved head definitely helped bring that resemblance to light, so it does not surprise me that the Duffer Brothers told Brown to have the mind-frame of Theron.

All eight episodes of Stranger Things are available to stream now on Netflix. Meanwhile, you can check out the video of Millie Bobby Brown’s head shaving below.
