Many films suffered at the box office this weekend with Vin Diesel’s Bloodshot only opening to $9.3 million domestically.
The coronavirus had caused the shutdown of movie productions, pulled release dates, and caused AMC to limit the capacity of their theaters to 50% for showings. Well, the repercussions of the coronavirus were definitely felt at the box office this weekend. According to Deadline, the domestic weekend box office only earned $55 million total, the lowest in 22-years.
The biggest film opening this weekend was Vin Diesel’s Bloodshot, which only made $9.3 million and finished third at the box office. Pixar’s Onward retained the top spot with $10.5 million and I Still Believe earned $9.3 million. It’s unclear when the next major release will come out with movies being removed from the schedule daily. Disney and other studios have pulled major releases like Mulan, The New Mutants, No Time To Die, and F9.
