Last week Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 star Vin Diesel teased that Groot and The Incredible Hulk may go head-to-head should they meet in Avengers: Infinity War. Now, in an interview with MTV International, Diesel reiterated his hopes that the two characters will face off when they meet and discussed the possibility of a Groot spin-off film.
Diesel reiterated his comments about Groot meeting the Hulk, imagining how that scene might unfold.
“I’m really interested to see what happens when him and the Hulk are in the same room […] I wanna see someone get out of line and, like, Groot take over. I can imagine that Hulk could say something or Rocket Raccoon could say something wise, like a smart-ass, to the Hulk and Hulk get all ruffled and angry, and then all of a sudden Groot steps up and says, ‘what’s up?'”
Diesel explained that he would love to explore Groot’s backstory in a spin-off film.
“It’s something that James Gunn has talked about and it’s something that I know that he would love to do. Sure, I think it could be very interesting. I think it’s inevitable. That character is so enigmatic and he was already one of the most unique characters in the Marvel universe, and I think what Marvel has done, primarily what James Gunn has done to realize that character has succeeded beyond anyone’s expectations. He’s just such an interesting character and there’s so much to learn about him. I’d love to back to his planet and learn more about him, I think the world would.”
