Scott Wilson, accomplished character actor who is known for playing Hershel Greene in AMC’s hit television series The Walking Dead has passed away at the age of 76 on October 6, 2018.
Details about the cause of Wilson’s untimely death are unknown, but the official Twitter for The Walking Dead released a statement expressing their sadness over his passing:

Wilson’s former Walking Dead co-star Michael Cudlitz shared a heartfelt message to his late friend:

Wilson was born on March 29, 1942 in Thomasville, Georgia. His career includes over 50 film credits that include In the Heat of the Night, In Cold Blood, The Great Gatsby, Dead Man Walking, Pearl Harbor, and Junebug. Wilson also received a Golden Globe nomination for his performance in The Ninth Configuration for Best Supporting Actor.
Wilson played Hershel Greene in 32 episodes of AMC’s The Walking Dead. Earlier today, it was announced that he along with former stars Jon Bernthal and Sonequa Martin-Green would be returning for the show’s ninth season. It remains unknown the extent of Wilson’s role will be.
Scott Wilson is survived by his wife, Heavenly Wilson. They were married since 1977.
