Is ‘Walking Dead’ Already Looking Beyond Negan?

Alpha

The world of The Walking Dead is getting bigger by the moment. With the introduction of Negan and The Saviors and the upcoming “All Out War” storyline from the comic book coming, fans may not have to wait long for even more characters from the comic book. We already have Gregory from Hilltop introduced last season. Next season will introduce us to Ezekiel and The Kingdom as well as give us more of Negan and The Saviors. We will be seeing many different communities, and it looks like we may yet be introduced to another leader and their community.

A casting call has been made for a character named “Brion.” Brion is described as:

“Brion is an educated, pokerfaced leader who has a superior air and does not let his/her motives be known. Brion uses as few words as possible and keeps his/her emotions in check — we do see amusement, annoyance, displeasure. Brion just doesn’t wear their emotions on their sleeve; he/she is confident, quiet, and chiefly concerned with how anything may benefit him/her and those he/she knows.”

The casting call for Brion does not reveal the gender of the character. The role will be a recurring guest star for the upcoming season. Episodes 10 and 12 with 15 and 16 as also possibilities. This is leaving many to speculate that Brion is a pseudonym for Alpha. Alpha is the leader of “The Whisperers,” a group that has reverted to primitive instincts and serve as the primary antagonists for Rick and the group after their conflict with Negan ended in the comics. When the show introduced “The Wolves” to us last season, it was assumed that they are a precursor of The Whisperers. It would be interesting for the show to begin laying the groundwork for The Whisperers before they are completely done with Negan and The Saviors.

Now, of course, the show could be going in a completely different direction and introducing a completely new character. Or perhaps this character could be a lesser known one from the comic book, like Magna who teams up Rick and Jesus later in the comics and also remember Tara and Heath are due to encounter a new group in the woods as they are still on a supply run.

The Walking Dead returns October 23rd to AMC.
