‘The Walking Dead’ Showrunner Says Finale Will Be A “Circus of Emotion”

'The Walking Dead' showrunner Scott M. Gimple tells fans that the seventh season finale will be a "circus of emotion' with highs and lows.

This season of The Walking Dead opened with the brutal deaths of two fan-favorite character’s when Negan and the Saviors ambushed Rick’s group and demoralized them into submission. However, Rick and the Alexandrian’s later vowed to take back control of their lives and end Negan’s reign. Having gathered weapons and allies, the series has slowly been building towards a showdown between Rick’s group and the Saviors that may culminate in a violent battle during the season finale. In an interview with Entertainment Weekly, showrunner Scott M. Gimple offered fans a preview of what they can expect during the season’s final hour.

Gimple told fans to expect a roller coaster of emotions.

“I will say it’s everything. It’s the highs and lows, brightness and darkness, alpha to omega, a quiet-loud-sad-happy tragiredemptive circus of emotion, anguish, and grace. I hope people feel it all come together and have that rush you feel when the roller coaster finally coasts back to the platform.”

The official description for the season finale of The Walking Dead, titled “The First Day of the Rest of Your Life”, reads as follows:

 The stakes continue to grow higher as paths cross; the group enacts an intricate plan.
