The Walking Dead is the biggest show on cable right now. Every Sunday night, we are glued to our TVs to watch the adventures of Rick and company as they deal with monsters (human and undead) in the zombie apocalypse. There are even nights were Walking Dead gets more ratings than NFL games. Needless to say, it isn’t going away anytime soon. Already renewed for an eighth season, and the comic has enough storylines for even more seasons. With such a strong following for a small screen show, many wonder if The Walking Dead would ever show up on the big screen.
In a world full of remakes, reboots, and alternate takes, would The Walking Dead ever get the big screen treatment? Showrunner Scott Gimple thinks that the possibility exists and joked about hypothetical actors for the possible movie.
“That question comes up every now and again. I’m sure one way or another, one day, it’ll happen. I think it would be cool. William Shatner as Rick. We’ll get Edward James Olmos as Daryl. Hit all the big shows! Matthew Fox as the Governor!”
Whether a Walking Dead movie ever comes through, who knows. As of right now, AMC is probably not going to let this go as it is single-handedly making them a network powerhouse. With possible seasons that can last through and 11th or 12th season, it’s going to be on the small screen for quite some time. However, a Walking Dead movie would be an interesting idea.
