In a recent appearance on The Talking Dead, The Walking Dead actor, Norman Reedus talked about his character’s relationship with Rick Grimes and why he can say things that others cannot.
During the interview, Norman Reedus said that a lot of their character interactions have to do with the real life bond that he has with Rick Grimes actor, Andrew Lincoln.:
Andy and I are always on the same page on a lot of stuff. We’ve been doing this a long time together, we shared a trailer for a decade. Like Andy in real life, I, Norman, can say things to Andy that other people can’t say ‘cause it’s crossing a line. But ‘cause we’re like brothers in real life, I can be like, ‘Yo, you’re such an a—hole, and this is what you did.’ And he’ll be like, ‘I did?’ And he’ll do the same thing to me. But if someone else said that to me, I’d be like, ‘I’m gonna kill you right now.’ He and I can do that as characters as well, which is a lot of the voice that Daryl’s now having. A lot of that is, ‘You’re not listening to me. You’re blinded by this, you’re blinded by that.’ Which has been a running theme for a couple years. I haven’t said much the last two years of the show, so I’m much more tired than I was last year already. But it’s great, it’s really, really good.
From the sound of things, the two became very close over the show’s nine seasons. Since The Walking Dead started back in 2010, Norman Reedus’ Daryl Dixon is one of only three characters to have survived since the show’s first season. The other two have been Rick Grimes and Carol Peletier, (Melissa McBride) so it only makes sense that the two would grow to know each other well over the show’s run time and it will be interesting to see how he gets along without his trailer mate.
The Walking Dead stars Andrew Lincoln as Rick Grimes, Norman Reedus as Daryl Dixon, Lauren Cohan as Maggie Rhee, Danai Gurira as Michonne, Melissa McBride as Carol Peletier, Alanna Masterson as Tara Chambler, Josh McDermitt as Eugene Porter, Christian Serratos as Rosita Espinosa, Seth Gilliam as Gabriel Stokes, Ross Marquand as Aaron, Jeffrey Dean Morgan as Negan Austin Amelio as Dwight, Tom Payne as Paul “Jesus” Rovia, Khary Payton as Ezekiel, Katelyn Nacon as Enid, Pollyanna McIntosh as Jadis / Anne, Callan McAuliffe as Alden, Avi Nash as Siddiq and Samantha Morton as Alpha.
