The Walking Dead Season 7 premiere is about four weeks away, and fans are anticipating the brutal reveal of who meets Lucille. The cast of the show aren’t afraid to warn viewers that they shouldn’t be this excited, as the episode will be completely unforgiving. Tom Payne, who plays Jesus on the show has even gone as far to say that it’s horrible.
“The beginning of next season is going to be very tough and pretty graphic and horrible. But it sets up the whole season, it’s the beginning of the whole next story, it sets up Negan, this awful, awful person and the things that he is capable of doing. And that sets up the challenge for Season 7, and I recognize you probably could have done that at the end of Season 6 but I think it’s going to be a really great opener.”
It’s worth noting that Jesus wasn’t part of the Negan ending of Season 6, so it’s clear that the episode has really had a severe effect on the rest of the cast. Whilst it’s worrying to think of the outcome, it’s also tantalising at how much of a catalyst this will be for the rest of the series.
“Unfortunately I think a lot of people who are wishing for the death and wishing that they had seen it, I think after the first episode they might wish they hadn’t wished for it because it’s going to be very brutal and a huge downer. At that point you hate Negan and you want him defeated.”
Whatever the outcome, it’s going to be one hell of an episode when ‘The Walking Dead‘ returns. The actor also spoke a little about Jesus’ role in the show after he’d been bumped up to season regular.
“I think Jesus will become, hopefully, an integral part of the group. He has a lot of skills, which I think are useful for the group and he is quite a calm sort of person and he’s also very capable, which you’ll definitely see more of in Season 7.”
‘The Walking Dead’ returns on Sunday, October 23 at 9/8c on AMC
