‘Ant-Man’ Star Walton Goggins Could Show Up In Don Cheadle’s ‘Armor Wars’

Sonny Burch could make a comeback.

Don Cheadle Armor Wars War Machine Walton Goggins Ant-Man

Ant-Man and the Wasp star Walton Goggins might be popping up in Don Cheadle’s Armor Wars series.

Walton Goggins appeared in Ant-Man and the Wasp as villain Sonny Burch, a man with a high level of interest when it comes to Hank Pym’s technology. Burch failed to get his hands on any of Pym’s technology in Ant-Man, so he might be springing for Tony Stark’s suits in Armor Wars.

Amor Wars, a series that puts the focus on Don Cheadle’s War Machine, is currently in pre-production. The series is expected to focus on War Machine grappling with the loss of Tony Stark in Avengers: Endgame, as well his (expected) mentor-like relationship with Dominique Thorne, who goes on to become Iron Heart. Traditionally, the Armor Wars story sees Tony Stark’s tech going for sale on the black market, with Justin Hammer being one of the big baddies behind the stolen goods. While it’s unclear if Sam Rockwell will reprise his role as Justin Hammer for Armor Wars, Ant-Man’s Walton Goggins’ Sonny Burch could be behind the theft.

Stuntman Rex Reddick is part of the IMDB listing (via The Ronin) for the Don Cheadle show. Reddick doubled for Walton Goggins in Ant-Man and the Wasp, and it appears that the stunt actor may be reprising his role once again for Armor Wars.

Of course, this by no means confirmed Walton Goggins’ inclusion in Armor Wars, but it would make sense to have the tech-hungry Sonny Burch involved in a series that focuses on stolen tech. Details on Armor Wars are slim, and the series is expected to hit Disney Plus in 2023. It’s also unclear if Ant-Man and the Wasp Quantumania will feature Sunny Burch’s return.

Don Cheadle’s James Rhodes last appeared in The Falcon and The Winter Soldier. Here is the plot synopsis for the series:

Following the events of “Avengers: Endgame,” Sam Wilson/Falcon (Anthony Mackie) and Bucky Barnes/Winter Soldier (Sebastian Stan) team up in a global adventure that tests their abilities—and their patience—in Marvel Studios’ “The Falcon and The Winter Soldier.”

Directed by Kari Skogland from scripts written by showrunner Malcolm Spellman and Derek Kolstad, the series stars Anthony Mackie as Sam Wilson / Falcon, Sebastian Stan as Bucky Barnes / The Winter Soldier, Emily VanCamp as Sharon Carter, Daniel Brühl as Baron Helmut Zemo, and Wyatt Russell as John Walker / U.S. Agent. Actors Desmond Chiam, Miki Ishikawa, Noah Mills, and Carl Lumbly have also been cast.
