Warner Bros Reveals New Plot Details For Joaquin Phoenix’s ‘Joker’

With the Venice International Film Festival premiere for Joaquin Phoenix’s Joker film over, Warner Bros has released new plot details for the upcoming film that teases a tragic origin.

Earlier this week, Joaquin Phoenix’s Joker film premiered at the Venice International Film Festival and the Warner Bros film was met with critical acclaim and an eight-minute standing ovation. Since the premiere, Warner Bros has released a new in-depth plot description of the film as part of its production notes. The new description from Warner Bros gives us a few hints at what may be a more tragic origin for Joaquin Phoenix’s character. It tells of a man who’s best friend is his fragile mother and is constantly beaten down by society and taunted by people around him at his job and those he casually runs into.

You can see Warner Bros’ new in-depth plot description for Joaquin Phoenix’s Joker below:

Forever alone in a crowd, Arthur Fleck seeks connection. Yet, as he trods the sooted Gotham City streets and rides the graffitied mass transit rails of a hostile town teeming with division and dissatisfaction, Arthur wears two masks. One, he paints on for his day job as a clown. The other he can never remove; it’s the guise he projects in a futile attempt to feel he’s a part of the world around him, and not the misunderstood man whom life is repeatedly beating down. Fatherless, Arthur has a fragile mother, arguably his best friend, who nicknamed him Happy, a moniker that’s fostered in Arthur a smile that hides the heartache beneath. But, when bullied by teens on the streets, taunted by suits on the subway, or simply teased by his fellow clowns at work, this social outlier only becomes even more out of sync with everyone around him.

What do you all think of this new, in-depth plot description from Warner Bros? Is Warner Bros giving away few many details for Joaquin Phoenix’s Joker? Is it just confirming what we already saw in the trailers? Let us know what you think in the comments below!

Here is the official synopsis for Joaquin Phoenix’s Joker:

Director Todd Phillips “Joker” centers around the iconic arch nemesis and is an original, standalone fictional story not seen before on the big screen. Phillips’ exploration of Arthur Fleck, who is indelibly portrayed by Joaquin Phoenix, is of a man struggling to find his way in Gotham’s fractured society. A clown-for-hire by day, he aspires to be a stand-up comic at night…but finds the joke always seems to be on him. Caught in a cyclical existence between apathy and cruelty, Arthur makes one bad decision that brings about a chain reaction of escalating events in this gritty character study.

Opening in theaters on October 4, 2019, Joker stars Joaquin Phoenix, Zazie Beetz, Frances Conroy, Marc Maron, Brett Cullen, Bryan Callen, and Robert De Niro. Stay tuned to Heroic Hollywood for more updates on the Joker movie!
