‘Watchmen’ Crossing Over With ‘Batman,’ ‘The Flash’ In DC Comics Event

Watchmen Zack Snyder

As first reported by Nerdist, Watchmen will be crossing over into both the Batman and The Flash DC Comics ongoing series. Coming in April, the four-part event will be called “The Button.” According to the description provided by DC:

“The two greatest detectives in the DC Universe unite to unravel the mystery behind a certain blood stained smiley face button stuck in the Batcave wall. However, what begins as a simple investigation soon turns deadly when the secrets of the button prove irresistible to an unwelcome third party, and it’s not who anyone suspects. This is a mystery woven throughout time, and the countdown starts here!”

Running through Batman #21 and #22 as well as The Flash #21 and #22, Tom King and artist Jason Fabok will handle the Batman issues, while Joshua Williamson and artist Howard Porter will handle The Flash part of the crossover event. Each issue of the crossover will also have “special lenticular covers.”

Watchmen is Alan Moore and Dave Gibbons’ 1980’s superhero story about a group of 1960’s heroes facing the crime, blight, and darkness of the 80’s. It’s also been one of DC’s top-selling graphic novels ever since it first arrived. And ever since the DC Comics’ reboot event Rebirth began, it’s been largely unclear as to The Watchmen’s role in the events with only a hint that Doctor Manhattan supposedly wiped Wally West from the timeline.

This new crossover event is sure to finally provide some answers about The Watchmen’s involvement in everything that’s been going on in the DC Comics Universe. Now, UPROXX has shared some new gifs of the crossover issues’ covers as shared by DC. One also reveals that Reverse-Flash might be involved in the crossover in some way.
