HBO released a new Watchmen featurette that includes never-before-seen footage from the Damon Lindelof series.
Next month, Alan Moore’s Watchmen universe will expand in a new HBO series from The Leftovers creator Damon Lindelof. While fans have known that HBO’s Watchmen will feature new characters and stories as opposed to adapting the source material for some time now, little else has been revealed about Damon Lindelof series.
Now, HBO has released a new featurette that includes previously unseen footage and explores the themes Damon Lindelof will focus on the show. Furthermore, Damon Lindelof noted that HBO’s Watchmen can be viewed without having read the graphic novel while honoring Alan Moore’s work at the same name:
“Our Watchmen honors the graphic novel without making it necessary to have read it in order to understand this new story.”

Set in an alternate history where “superheroes” are treated as outlaws, WATCHMEN embraces the nostalgia of the original groundbreaking graphic novel while attempting to break new ground of its own.
Watchmen stars Regina King, Jeremy Irons, Don Johnson, Jean Smart, Tim Blake Nelson, Louis Gossett Jr., Yahya Abdul-Mateen II, Hong Chau, Andrew Howard, Tom Mison, Frances Fisher, Jacob Ming-Trent, Sara Vickers, Dylan Schombing, and James Wolk. The series is produced for HBO by White Rabbit in association with Warner Bros. Television, based on Alan Moore’s graphic novel co-created and illustrated by Dave Gibbons and published by DC.
Watchmen will premiere on October 20, 2019, on HBO.
