Wesley Snipes stayed as quiet as he could regarding a new Blade project from Marvel Studios.
Sometimes, an actor comes along to play a comic book character so well that it’s hard to see the character be played by anyone else. One of the most famous examples of this is, of course, Wesley Snipes’ iconic turn as the Marvel hero Blade. In recent years, a reboot of the franchise has been much-discussed with the actor returning to the role and recently, Snipes had some brief comments to say regarding the subject.
1998’s Blade was the first major Marvel film to hit theaters and it started a trilogy that lasted until 2004 starring Wesley Snipes as the lead role. In 2012, the Blade film rights reverted back to Marvel Studios from New Line Cinema but Marvel Studios hasn’t done anything with Blade since the Wesley Snipes films.
Many Marvel fans thought the character would be a good fit for the Netflix corner of the MCU and Wesley Snipes has teased his return to the role for years now, though no project has been officially announced just yet. At the Stan Lee tribute event Wednesday night, Wesley Snipes dodged a question from Collider about possibly returning saying:
“Daywalker clique, baby.”
Fans can check out the full clip from Collider to see the ever-charismatic Wesley Snipes discuss more subjects regarding Marvel, including his favorite Stan Lee cameo, but he did remain tight-lipped about his return as the iconic Marvel vampire. The upcoming Marvel Cinematic Universe film slate, for the most part, remains a secret. Hopefully, this means that Marvel fans could end up seeing the character return to the big screen sooner rather than later.
