ABC and The CW respectively have their prime-time program schedules packed with exciting superhero content on January 19th.

Superhero TV

Tuesday January 19th, is a massive night for both Marvel and DC. ABC and The CW respectively have their prime-time program schedules packed with superheroes, which positions Marvel and DC in a head to head lock once again.

As many know, The Flash returns on the 19th (8PM EST) with it’s mid-season premiere on The CW. Also premiering with a 2 hour special, is season 2 of the Marvel miniseries Agent Carter starring Haley Atwell (9PM EST). But these 2 premieres are only the beginning of what will be a amazing night for comic fans.

Preceding Agent Carter in the 8PM (EST) time-slot with be “Marvel’s Captain America: 75 Heroic Years”. This hour long special, will commemorate the character of Steve Rogers and how he has evolved through the years as one of Marvel’s most loved heroes. The special is expected to be in the same style and presentation as last years Marvel special, “Marvel 75 Years: From Pulp to Pop!”, with many interviews from movie actors, comic writers, and illustrators that have brought the Captain America character to life. Included in this commemorative special, will be an exclusive announcement from Marvel comics unveiled sometime during the hour. With a 75th anniversary special for Captain America followed by the premiere of Agent Carter season 2, Marvel seems to be creating a Captain America themed night, so it can be expected that the second Captain America: Civil War trailer may be unveiled as the exclusive announcement. Fingers crossed!

Adding to the crazy night of superhero madness, are two more half hour specials covering DC properties during the 9PM hour (EST) over on the CW. The first special, starting immediately after The Flash ends, is “DC’S Legends of Tomorrow: Their Time Is Now”. The is special designed to build anticipation for the upcoming show by introducing the viewers to the origin stories of the characters that make up the “Legends” team. The special will also introduce viewers to immortal madman Vandal Savage, and the time master Rip Hunter.

Starting at 9:30 (EST) is the second DC Event; “Kevin Smith Hosts – DC Films Presents: Dawn of the Justice League”. The ultra nerdy director and star of AMC’s Comic Book Men, will host a show dedicated to previewing DC’s entire superhero movie slate. There will be behind the scenes footage of Batman v. Superman: Dawn of Justice as well as a sneak peak of Gal Gadot’s Wonder Woman (2017). The event will bring even more, and culminate in an exclusive reveal of a brand new Suicide Squad trailer.

With 2 hit shows coming back, a commemorative special on one of America’s favorites, and 2 “behind the scenes” DC events, we will have a night to remember. With confirmed footage from Suicide Squad,  Batman v. Superman, Wonder Woman, and what could be the second trailer for Captain America: Civil War, what will you prioritize this coming Tuesday and watch live? What will you leave as DVR material?
