Will Smith Hopes To Return As Deadshot In A Standalone Movie

Deadshot Will Smith

Will Smith went big for his 50th birthday today, bungee jumping out of a helicopter live on YouTube, but before he did, the Suicide Squad star opened up about the possibility of returning as Floyd Lawton aka Deadshot in his own standalone movie.

When asked by a fan whether or not there would be a Deadshot movie, Smith dished on having meetings with the studio for the project:

“I hope so, I love playing Deadshot. I’m really enjoying that character. They’ve been talking about it. If a good idea comes around… we’ve been having meetings but I would love to. I love Deadshot.”

Smith is currently expected to return for the Suicide Squad sequel alongside Margot Robbie and Jared Leto. Plot details remain under wraps.

The Accountant director Gavin O’Connor is set to write and direct the film, with Todd Stashwick and David Bar Katz co-writing the script as well. Charles Roven will produce the DC Universe follow-up with Michael De Luca producing the project under his Michael De Luca Productions banner.

The Suicide Squad sequel is one of the many projects currently being developed by Warner Bros. and DC Films, including Birds of Prey, The Batman, The Flash standalone film, Green Lantern Corps, Black Adam, Supergirl, New Gods, Nightwing, a Deathstroke film, and a Joker origin movie set outside of the DCEU.
