During an interview with BBC Radio 1, Chris Pine discussed his return as Steve Trevor in Wonder Woman 1984.
Although Steve Trevor sacrificed himself at the end of the first film, actor Chris Pine will reprise the role in the highly-anticipated sequel titled Wonder Woman 1984. The circumstances of the character’s return are currently unknown to general audiences, but Chris Pine revealed that director Patty Jenkins informed him of her idea for how the character could come back during production on the first film:
“Not all that surprised. Patty had told me this idea somewhere in the middle of the first one and when Patty gets an idea, it’s a pretty powerful thing ’cause you can see the kernal land in the dirt and then all of a sudden it just starts growing and become a tree. You know? She could make you do anything.”
Full details on the Wonder Woman 1984 plot are currently unknown, though the film will follow the titular hero as she comes into conflict with the Soviet Union in the 1980s and encounters a formidable new adversary named Cheetah.
Directed by Patty Jenkins from a script she co-wrote with David Callaham and a treatment she developed with Geoff Johns, Wonder Woman 1984 stars Gal Gadot, Chris Pine, Kristen Wigg, Pedro Pascal, Natasha Rothwell, Ravi Patel, Gabriella Wilde, Connie Nielson, and Robin Wright.
Wonder Woman 1984 will be released in theater on November 1, 2019.
