The costume designer provides a hit as to what to expect from the iconic antagonist!

Wonder Woman 1984 costume designer Lindy Hemming has teased at Kristen Wiig’s Cheetah transformation for the upcoming Gal Gadot film.

Early on it was revealed that Kristen Wiig’s Cheetah would be one of the antagonists for Gal Gadot’s upcoming film, Wonder Woman 1984. Fans were surprised, however, by the trailers focusing more on Pedro Pasca’s Maxwell Lord as a not so subtle stand-in for 1980s Donald Trump.  While Kristen Wiig’s character was featured in the trailers, her Cheetah transformation had been kept under wraps up until recently.

Yesterday a clip from Wonder Woman 1984 teased at this transformation and Gal Gadot’s character being shocked at what Kristen Wiig’s character did. During a recent chat with Comicbook.com, costume designer Lindy Hemming didn’t shine any light on what this clip was about but did hint that the character’s physical transformation throughout the film would be a reflection of her character’s arc:

“How you tackle everything doing a superhero film to me, is you investigate the characters as much as you can find, the same way the characters are trying to find the character inside this thing, whatever suit it is. Patty [Jenkins] is really into all the character work, and so you approach the journey…I’m not going to talk about what happens to her, but the journey that the character makes is approached through their character. So we’re looking to build, build, all the time so that you feel you know more about the person she turns into, than you would have if it was just a transformation into something.”

What do you all make of Lindy Hemming’s words? How do you think Cheetah’s character are will reflect her physical transformation? Let us know what you think in the comments below!

Full details on the film’s plot are being kept under wraps, but the film is said to follow Gal Gadot’s Diana Prince as she comes into conflict with a formidable new adversary named Cheetah and businessman Maxwell Lord. Wonder Woman was last seen in Zack Snyder’s DC superhero team-up movie Justice League.

Directed by Patty Jenkins from a script she co-wrote with David Callaham and a treatment she developed with Geoff Johns, the film stars Gal Gadot, Chris Pine, Kristen Wiig, Pedro Pascal, Natasha Rothwell, Ravi Patel, Gabriella Wilde, Connie Nielson, and Robin Wright.

Wonder Woman 1984 is currently scheduled to be released in theaters on October 2nd, 2020. Stay tuned for all the latest news on Wonder Woman 1984 and be sure to subscribe to Heroic Hollywood’s YouTube channel for more exclusive video content!
