In the comics, Barbara Ann Minerva was born the heiress to a vast fortune and grew up to be an archaeologist. The ambitious, deeply selfish Minerva searched throughout Africa for a specific tribe who was protected by a mysterious female guardian who was linked to the Cheetah. After the guardian was murdered by a group of bandits, Minerva underwent a ritual to become the next individual infused with Cheetah-like powers.
Patty Jenkins is back in the director’s chair, working from a script by The Expendables co-writer Dave Callaham. The script is based on a treatment by Jenkins and Geoff Johns, who recently confirmed that the film takes place in 1984.
Plot details for the Wonder Woman sequel are currently being kept under wraps. The film is said to follow Gal Gadot’s Amazonian Princess during the Cold War as she faces off against the Soviet Union in the 1980s.
Wonder Woman 2 is currently set to hit theaters on November 1, 2019. Chris Pine is back as Steve Trevor while Pedro Pascal joins the cast in an undisclosed role.
Make sure to keep an eye on Heroic Hollywood as more details on this project come out.
