Gal Gadot may be returning for another appearance as Wonder Woman in the Scarlett Speedster’s first standalone feature film within the DCEU, Flashpoint.
According to Forbes, Gadot will indeed return to reprise her role as the Amazonian Princess in The Flash solo film following the Wonder Woman sequel in 2019, however, the size of Gadot’s role in the film remains unclear. Flashpoint starring Ezra Miller as The Flash is set to adapt key story DC comics story arc written by Geoff Johns. The story follows Barry Allen when he runs back in time to prevent the death of his mother, creating an alternate timeline where he never becomes the Scarlet Speedster and the DC Universe is forever changed.
Flashpoint is currently scheduled to release in 2020, however, the film remains without a director. Robert Zemeckis (Forest Gump, Back to the Future) emerged as the frontrunner to direct the film in May but the project has stalled since Dope director Rick Famuyiwa exited the Warner Bros. production, citing creative differences between him and the studio as the reason for his departure. Famuyiwa was hired to replace Seth Grahame-Smith who penned the original script and also exited the project due to creative differences.
But for now, fans will be able to see both Gadot’s Wonder Woman and Miller’s Flash grace the silver screen in the superhero team-up epic Justice League alongside Ben Affleck as Batman, Henry Cavill as Superman, Jason Momoa as Aquaman, Ezra Miller as The Flash, Ray Fisher as Cyborg, Amber Heard as Mera, J.K. Simmons as Commissioner Gordon, Willem Dafoe as Vulko, and Ciaran Hinds as Steppenwolf. Here’s the official synopsis:
“Fueled by his restored faith in humanity and inspired by Superman’s selfless act, Bruce Wayne enlists the help of his newfound ally, Diana Prince, to face an even greater enemy. Together, Batman and Wonder Woman work quickly to find and recruit a team of metahumans to stand against this newly awakened threat. But despite the formation of this unprecedented league of heroes—Batman, Wonder Woman, Aquaman, Cyborg and The Flash—it may already be too late to save the planet from an assault of catastrophic proportions.”
Justice League is set to hit theaters November 17th, 2017.
