Wonder Woman Marvel Studios David Callaham

That Hashtag Show reports Marvel Studios has enlisted Wonder Woman 1984 writer David Callaham to write the script for an unannounced and untitled superhero film.

Callaham’s other credits include 2005’s Doom, The Expendables, and the upcoming long-awaited Zombieland sequel. The highly-anticipated Wonder Woman sequel starring Gal Gadot will serve as writer’s first foray into superhero film territory with a story featuring the Princess of Themyscira in the Cold War as she faces off against the Soviet Union in the 1980s and encounters a new adversary named Cheetah played by Kristen Wiig. Callaham co-wrote the script with director Patty Jenkins based on a treatment she developed with Geoff Johns.

As for Marvel, details on the project Callaham is involved with remains unknown. The studio has flags planted on Disney’s release calendar through 2022. Production on Marvel’s 2019 films including Captain Marvel, Avengers 4, and Spider-Man: Far From Home have wrapped. Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 was originally slated to begin production in early 2019 but has since been put on hold following the removal of James Gunn from the franchise. However, Marvel will reportedly still use Gunn’s script for the film.

Other known film projects on the horizon from Marvel Studios include the Black Widow standalone film which has been written by Jac Schaeffer, The Eternals film Chloe Zhao will direct from a script written by Matthew and Ryan Firpo, and the Black Panther sequel that Ryan Coogler is returning to direct as well as write.

Captain Marvel hits theaters March 8, 2019, followed by Avengers 4 on May 3, 2019, and Spider-Man: Far From Home on July 5, 2019.
