‘Wonder Woman’ Scores Second Best Tuesday In June For Live-Action Film

Wonder Woman is continuing her reign at the domestic box office, scoring the second best Tuesday for a live-action film in the month of June.

Deadline reports the DCEU’s first female-led installment, Wonder Woman, is continuing her reign at the domestic box office, scoring the second-best Tuesday for a live-action film in the month of June with a gross of $14.4 million.

The film falls second to Jurassic World which managed to take a total of $24.3 million the Tuesday following its release in June of 2015. As for Warner Bros. produced DC films, Wonder Woman ranks third behind The Dark Knight at $20.9 million and The Dark Knight Rises with $17.8 million on a Tuesday.

Wonder Woman isn’t showing any signs of slowing down either. The Amazonian Princess has now grossed a total of $129.4 million in the US and is projected to see as little as a 50% drop, taking another $50 million in its second weekend and maintaining the No.1 spot at the box office over the debut of Universal’s Dark Universe starter The Mummy. If the film manages to do so, it would rank second for the DCEU’s best second weekend falling just short of Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice which grossed a total of $51 million at the domestic box office in its second weekend.

The film stars Gal Gadot as Diana Prince/Wonder Woman, Chris Pine as Steve Trevor, Robin Wright as General Antiope, Connie Nielsen as Queen Hippolyta, Lisa Loven Kongsli as Menalippe, Danny Huston as General Erich Ludendorff, David Thewlis as Sir Patrick Morgan, Elena Anaya as Doctor Maru, Ewen Bremner as Charlie, Saïd Taghmaoui as Sameer and Eugene Brave Rock as the Chief. Here’s the official synopsis:

’Wonder Woman’ hits movie theaters around the world next summer when Gal Gadot returns as the title character in the epic action adventure from director Patty Jenkins. Before she was Wonder Woman, she was Diana, princess of the Amazons, trained to be an unconquerable warrior. Raised on a sheltered island paradise, when an American pilot crashes on their shores and tells of a massive conflict raging in the outside world, Diana leaves her home, convinced she can stop the threat. Fighting alongside man in a war to end all wars, Diana will discover her full powers…and her true destiny.
