Earlier this year, Aquaman made a brief appearance in in Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice. Aquaman was played by Game of Thrones star Jason Mamoa, who is set to reprise his role for next year’s Justice League. However, he will also be seen in his Aquaman film that is getting closer to kicking off production as one of the several upcoming DC Extended Universe films in Warner Bros.’ line-up.

Currently, Aquaman is in pre-production, but thanks to Production Weekly, we now know the working title of the project. According to the site, the film’s current working title is “Ahab,” which is most likely a reference to the Captain Ahab character in Moby Dick.

The film’s director, James Wan, has been actively scouting for locations for the project that will kick off  production in 2017. Mamoa will be joined by his fellow Aquaman cast members Amber Heard and Willem Dafoe in Justice League as Mera and Nuidis Vulko respectively.

James Wan’s Aquaman, starring Jason Mamoa as Arthur Curry a.k.a. Aquaman, Amber Heard as Mera and Willem Dafoe as Nuidis Vulko, is set to come out in theaters on July 27, 2018. The screenplay comes from Will Beall, with story by Wan and DC Films co-head Geoff Johns.
