'A Wrinkle in Time' director Ava DuVernay reveals via Twitter Q&A that her favorite superhero is the DC Comics New God, Big Barda.

A Wrinkle in Time director Ava DuVernay took to Twitter for a recent Q&A with her fans when one of them asked her to reveal her favorite superhero. Surprisingly, DuVernay’s answer was a deep cut, going with DC Comics’ Big Barda.

For those who may not be familiar with the character, Big Barda is a Jack Kirby creation, a member of the New Gods and the wife of Mister Miracle. Possessing superhuman strength, Big Barda has been around for over 40 years, appearing in several animated series including Justice League Unlimited and Batman: The Brave and the Bold.

Here is the official synopsis for DuVernay’s upcoming Disney film, A Wrinkle in Time:

Meg Murry and her brother Charles Wallace have normal lives until one night when a strange visitor comes. Her name was Mrs. Whatsit. She states that there IS such thing as a “tesseract”. The next day, Meg and Charles Wallace meet Mrs. Who and Mrs. Which. They also meet the most popular boy in high school: Calvin O’Keefe. Together, they embark on an adventure to save Meg’s father, Dr. Murry.

The film stars Storm Reid, Oprah Winfrey, Reese Witherspoon, Mindy Kaling, Zach Galifiankis, Chris Pine, Levi Miller, Deric McCabe, Gugu Mbatha-Raw, Micheal Pena and Andre Holland.

A Wrinkle in Time will hit theaters on March 9, 2018.

Some people may complain about superhero fatigue, but for fans of the genre, 2018 looks like it will be an amazing year. Not only will hit shows like Marvel’s Daredevil and Arrow continue, but there are a lot of new projects coming for superhero fans. Ranging from games to movies, Marvel and DC have been hard at work turning their comic book characters into multimedia icons.

This list doesn’t even include things like New Mutants and The Runaways, two superhero projects coming in 2018. There are so many amazing things coming out of the comic book world, with new projects seemingly announced every day, so this is just a quick rundown of the five things that excite my inner fanboy.
