‘X-Men’: Disney Pushes Back Fox’s ‘New Mutants’ To April 2020

Walt Disney Studios announced the release date Fox’s X-Men film New Mutants has been pushed back to April 3rd, 2020.

Fox’s X-Men franchise is set to continue with a darker and more horror-centric entry titled New Mutants, but the film’s road to theaters has been plagued by release date delays and reshoots that were last reported to still be unscheduled. Now, Disney has announced its upcoming slate of projects following the acquisition of Fox film studios and the release date New Mutants has once again been pushed back. Initially scheduled to be released in theaters on April 13, 2018, before being delayed until February 22, 2019, and again August 2, 2019, Disney has now announced New Mutants will be released theatrically on April 3rd, 2020.

Based on the Marvel Comics team of the same name, the upcoming X-Men film centers on five young mutants who are just discovering their abilities while being held in a secret facility against their will.

Directed by Josh Boone from a script co-written by Knate Lee, The New Mutants stars Anya Taylor-Joy as Illyana Rasputin / Magik, Maisie Williams as Rahne Sinclair / Wolfsbane, Charlie Heaton as Sam Guthrie / Cannonball, Henry Zaga as Roberto da Costa / Sunspot, Blu Hunt as Danielle Moonstar / Mirage, and Alice Braga as Cecilia Reyes.

The New Mutants is scheduled to be released in theaters on April 3rd, 2020.
