One of the producers behind X-Men: The Animated Series opened up about a possible revival of the fan-favorite series with Disney.

There’s been talks about reviving X-Men: The Animated Series with Disney according to one of the producers behind the fan-favorite series from the 1990s. Larry Houston, who worked on the series, discussed the possible revival on a virtual Wizard World panel earlier this month. There’s been plenty of recent conversation around the X-Men, with director James Gunn recently discussing his favorite Mutant heroes, with some surprising inclusions. But Houston explained that the talks have only got as far as letting Disney know the team are available to work on the project.

“We’ve had talks, but that’s about it. We’ve made conversation and it’s up to them to make the decision, but we’ve let them know that we’re all available for whatever they want to do in the future.”

Beast voice actor George Buza explained that the whole cast are up to reprise their roles as the Mutant team, saying “We would all love to do it.” X-Men: The Animated Series producer Larry Houston stressed on the panel that he’d only return for a special one-off or a small story arc of five episodes with the full team. Hopefully if Disney will decide to revive the series and fans can see those colorful costumes on-screen once again. Although most recently one of the producers behind the 2000 live-action film explained why they didn’t include the iconic designs. Take a look at the X-Men: The Animated series producer discussing his idea to return to the show below.

“if we could do a special, a one-off episode, or a five-part episode. Whatever they wanted to do if we had all the original team. That’s what I would come out of retirement for.”

Here is the official synopsis for the latest film in the franchise, X-Men: Dark Phoenix:

This is the story of one of the X-Men’s most beloved characters, Jean Grey, as she evolves into the iconic DARK PHOENIX. During a life-threatening rescue mission in space, Jean is hit by a cosmic force that transforms her into one of the most powerful mutants of all. Wrestling with this increasingly unstable power as well as her own personal demons, Jean spirals out of control, tearing the X-Men family apart and threatening to destroy the very fabric of our planet. The film is the most intense and emotional X-Men movie ever made. It is the culmination of 20 years of X-Men movies, as the family of mutants that we’ve come to know and love must face their most devastating enemy yet — one of their own.

Written and directed by Simon Kinberg, X-Men: Dark Phoenix stars James McAvoy, Michael Fassbender, Jennifer Lawrence, Nicholas Hoult, Sophie Turner, Tye Sheridan, Alexandra Shipp, Kodi Smit-McPhee, Evan Peters, and Jessica Chastain.

X-Men: Dark Phoenix is now available on Digital HD, 4k Ultra HD, Blu-ray, and DVD. Stay tuned for all the latest news on the future of the X-Men franchise and be sure to subscribe to Heroic Hollywood’s YouTube channel for more video content!
