Aquaman helmer James Wan has shared a brand new behind-the-scenes photo of Yahya Abdul-Mateen II as the iconic DC Comics villain Black Manta.
Jason Momoa’s first cinematic solo outing as Aquaman introduced audiences to Yahya Abdul-Mateen II as Black Manta, one of the titular hero’s most formidable foes from the comics. Most fans were thrilled by the fact that Yahya Abdul-Mateen II’s Black Manta look was faithful to the source material and now Aquaman director James Wan has shared a photo taken during a costume test for the movie.

Warner Bros. is currently working on an Aquaman sequel, with David Leslie Johnson-McGoldrick writing the script and James Wan expected to return in the director’s chair. While it is currently unknown if Yahya Abdul-Mateen II will be back as Black Manta, the mid-credits scene of the first film teased the villain leading Dr. Stephen Shin to Atlantis in exchange for his assistance in seeking revenge against Aquaman.
