Colton Haynes is finally returning to Arrow as the young Arsenal!
Up until this point, Colton Haynes’ Roy Harper/Arsenal has only appeared as a middle-aged version of the character in the current season of the show. Taking place in 2040, Roy is much older, grayer and wrinklier compared to the Instagram influencer babyface we grew to know him as in the first three seasons of Arrow. He functions as part of future Team Arrow as he helps Oliver’s son William and the new crew of heroes in their adventures in the Escape From New York-esque Star City of 2040.
Arsenal’s return to the present day storyline of Arrow is set to happen in episode 20, titled “Confessions,” as the team calls in Arsenal when they need all the backup they can get to take care of the threats against Star City. The episode synopsis provides some insight:
“When they learn of an upcoming attack on the city, Team Arrow calls Roy Harper to help them stop the Ninth Circle. However, things go awry, and there is massive collateral damage.”
While we know that at least Roy, Dinah, Rene, Felicity, and Oliver (as they either feature in the flash-forwards or are the star of the show itself) make it out alive, what other characters are safe? Who else might be lost in the “collateral damage” as we approach the end of Arrow‘s seventh and penultimate season?
Are you excited to see Colton Haynes Roy return as a younger Harper/Arsenal? How do you think the season 7 finale of Arrow will write off Felicity Smoak, as she is not set to return for Arrow‘s final season later this year? Let us know in the comments below!
