Yesterday in an interview with Yahoo for Doritos annual Crash The Superbowl Challenge, Zack Snyder opened up about “Superhero Fatigue”, the DCEU and the constant rumors surrounding DC properties. Today the interviews continue. While speaking with The Daily Beast Snyder went into a little bit more depth on his experience handling the reigns on the DC Extended Universe.

“I’m going to leave here today and go see [DC Comics’ CCO] Geoff Johns and we’ll hang out and talk about Aquaman or something like that, Chris Terrio and I worked on [Batman v. Superman] script, and he did an amazing job, It’s great fun, but it also has an eye toward the future—it’s going toward Justice League. Early on, once we decided that we were going to put Batman in the movie, then I was like, ‘Okay, good! Because you know what that means? It means the floodgates can open!”

Much like his villainous star Jesse Eisenberg, Zack Snyder states praise for Batman V Superman: Dawn of Justice writer Chris Terrio.

There has been an on going rivalry between Marvel and DC for decades, with fanboys and girls trying to declare which company is better. This has only heated up due to Warner Bros. lack of faith in any of their DC Comics properties besides Batman or Superman and Marvels constant ownership of the Box Office. Snyder may be a little one sided, but he seems to have an opinion on how Marvel and DC differ from each other.

“It’s a tricky process, setting up the DC universe, or Justice League, The credit goes to [Batman Begins director] Chris Nolan because he set the die for the DC Universe in a great way that I tried to emulate. I look at it as more being mythological than, say, bubblegum. And I think that that’s appropriate for Batman and Superman because they’re the most mythological of our superheroes.”

The Daily Beast then goes on to ask Zack Snyder about comments he made earlier in the day on Spielberg’s statement that “superhero movies will go the way of the western.”

“It goes to the mythological nature of the movies that we’re making,” he said. “I feel like he’s right. But I feel like Batman and Superman are transcendent of superhero movies in a way, because they’re Batman and Superman. They’re not just, like, the flavor of the week Ant-Man—not to be mean, but whatever it is. What is the next Blank-Man?”

During this interview, Heroic Hollywood also got a scoop confirmation. When asked directly if there would be more Batman in Batman v Superman, Zack Snyder confirms that it is indeed the case.

“Only in that because it’s a different Batman than the Batman that was in the Chris Nolan movies, so we have a little bit more explaining to do—and you just had a whole Superman movie, But I think only in that way, because you need to understand where Batman is with everything. And that’s more toward the beginning, but it evens back out as it goes on.”

Batman v. Superman Dawn of Justice stars Ben Affleck, Henry Cavill, Gal Gadot, Amy Adams, Jeremy Irons and Jesse Eisenberg. The film hits theaters on March 25 2016.
