Zack Snyder has taken to Twitter to thank fans for their continued support for a potential release of the “Snyder Cut” of Justice League.

Zack Snyder recently highlighted an article discussing his unreleased version of Justice League and how fan support for it has raised money for suicide prevention purposes. Part of the reason that Zack Snyder stepped down from Justice League was due to the death of one of his daughters, Autumn Snyder, who took her own life. Since then, fans who have wanted to see the Snyder Cut of the film have also donated thousands of dollars to suicide prevention charities.

As it stands, though, it appears as though Warner Bros. and DC Films have moved on from Justice League after the film’s financial failure, and with it the Snyder Cut. While there are versions of the Snyder Cut that are in a vault at Warner Bros. somewhere, completing them would still cost money. Zack Snyder is no longer involved with DC Films aside from having an executive producer or producer credit on certain projects involving actors that he cast (and David Ayer’s Suicide Squad, which was made while he was overseeing development of DC’s shared universe), and he’s since started work on multiple projects for Netflix. Meanwhile, DC Films has seen great financial success with the likes of AquamanShazam! and Joker, which are either significantly different in tone than the Justice League film that Zack Snyder was aiming to make or reject the idea of a shared universe entirely.

However, in spite of the unlikelihood of a Snyder Cut actually seeing release, there remains a significant amount of online discussion regarding it even two years after Justice League was released. The efforts of Snyder Cut fans raising money for charity is something to be commended.

Here’s the official synopsis for Justice League:

Fueled by his restored faith in humanity and inspired by Superman’s selfless act, Bruce Wayne enlists the help of his newfound ally, Diana Prince, to face an even greater enemy. Together, Batman and Wonder Woman work quickly to find and recruit a team of metahumans to stand against this newly awakened threat. But despite the formation of this unprecedented league of heroes—Batman, Wonder Woman, Aquaman, Cyborg and The Flash—it may already be too late to save the planet from an assault of catastrophic proportions.

Directed by Zack Snyder, Justice League stars Ben Affleck, Henry Cavill, Amy Adams, Gal Gadot, Ezra Miller, Jason Momoa, Ray Fisher, Jeremy Irons, Diane Lane, Connie Nielsen, J. K. Simmons, and Ciarán Hinds.

Justice League is now available on Blu-Ray, DVD and Digital HD.
