Zack Snyder On Why CW’s ‘The Flash’ Wasn’t Picked For The Movies

Unlike the Marvel Cinematic Universe, Warner Bros/DC Comics went with a different route when it came to their film and TV universes as those two worlds are kept separate.

To some, that came as a disappointment as many fans of CW’s The Flash series with Grant Gustin as the Fastest Man Alive, had wanted to see Gustin join the fellow Justice League members as the big screen’s Flash too. However, in the DC Extended Universe, Ezra Miller will be playing Barry Allen as he will be featured in his own solo film and the upcoming Justice League movies.

In a recent interview with NY Daily News, Zack Snyder talked about why Gustin wasn’t picked as the DCEU’s Flash.

“I just don’t think it was a good fit. I’m very strict with this universe and I just don’t see a version where…that (tone is) not our world. Even if Grant Gustin is my favorite guy in the world and he’s very good, we made a commitment to the multiverse (idea), so it’s just not a thing that’s possible.”

Although there is always the chance that we might see the two speedsters share the screen one day as the DC films and TV universe are all part of the same Multiverse. The television series has already shown a few different examples of other Earths in the Multiverse, with glimpses of other DC shows.

The Flash airs on Tuesday nights at 8/7c on The CW while the upcoming The Flash movie is set to come out in theaters on March 16, 2018.
