Zack Snyder was apparently fired from Justice League way before Warner Bros. announced his departure from the project and on different terms than let on about. Back in May, it was announced that Zack Snyder would be handing the reigns of Justice League to Avengers director Joss Whedon due to a family tragedy. It turns out that this may have been a front for WB to take the easy way out of firing him. A former Mashable writer let the cat out of the bag today on Twitter after announcing his retirement from writing:
“Since I’m shifting into DGAF mode, here’s a hot one for ya: Zack Snyder was fired from the DCEU just over 1 year ago. Couldn’t write it ~quite~ that way at the time, but was able to tapdance around it [clumsy/oblique headline not mine] “
Justice League has had its fair share of negative responses since its release, but it’s Zack Snyder’s second best-rated DC Film. However, there are a lot of fans that will agree that it wasn’t a Zack Snyder movie and some are even petitioning for him to get a directors cut.
With Justice League out of the way, DC Films is at something of a crossroads in where it will take the DCEU. Wonder Woman gave the company a clearer path forward after some growing pains, and as of right now, some of the major projects that are in development include Aquaman, Shazam!, Suicide Squad 2, Flashpoint, Wonder Woman 2, Superman 2 and The Batman. A Justice League sequel is also in the works, but the focus seems to be dedicated toward fleshing out existing characters in order to build up hype for another team-up — and possibly the Legion of Doom, which could be set up over the course of multiple films before having a proper pay-off.
Do you believe the writer’s comments about Zack Snyder? Has Warner Bros. really ruined the DC Extended Universe? Sound off in the comments below.
Here’s the official synopsis:

But despite the formation of this unprecedented league of heroes—Batman, Wonder Woman, Aquaman, Cyborg and The Flash—it may already be too late to save the planet from an assault of catastrophic proportions.
