Twitter has revealed that Zack Snyder’s cut of Justice League was the social media platform’s most talked-about film of 2021.
To road to Zack Snyder’s cut of Justice League was a long and rather complicated one. By now it is well known that the production of the film was an absolute nightmare, due in part to the director’s disagreements with the studio over run time. Snyder then had to step aside due to a personal tragedy. Avengers director Joss Whedon took over the project to oversee a set of reshoots which resulted in a film that failed to wow audiences and critics.
In the years that followed, it gradually came out that Joss Wheadon was abusive and unprofessional on the set of the film and that what we saw in theaters wasn’t anything like what the original director planned. After a campaign by fans and pushes from the director himself, Warner Bros agreed to finance Zack Snyder’s cut of Justice League which was released on HBO Max earlier this year. The film turned into a big hit for Warner Bros’ streaming platform which debuted with over 1.8M views. According to Twitter, however, the conversation around the movie has only continued.
As part of Twitter’s end-of-the-year recap, it listed off the most talked-about films of 2021. This list included The Batman, Godzilla vs Kong, Dune, The Suicide Squad, and, topping it off, Zack Snyder’s Justice League. You can see the full video below:
Here is the synopsis for Zack Snyder’s Justice League:
“In ZACK SNYDER’S JUSTICE LEAGUE, determined to ensure Superman’s (Henry Cavill) ultimate sacrifice was not in vain, Bruce Wayne (Ben Affleck) aligns forces with Diana Prince (Gal Gadot) with plans to recruit a team of metahumans to protect the world from an approaching threat of catastrophic proportions. The task proves more difficult than Bruce imagined, as each of the recruits must face the demons of their own pasts to transcend that which has held them back, allowing them to come together, finally forming an unprecedented league of heroes. Now united, Batman (Affleck), Wonder Woman (Gadot), Aquaman (Jason Momoa), Cyborg (Ray Fisher) and The Flash (Ezra Miller) may be too late to save the planet from Steppenwolf, DeSaad and Darkseid and their dreadful intentions.”
The Snyder Cut stars Ben Affleck, Henry Cavill, Amy Adams, Gal Gadot, Ezra Miller, Jason Momoa, Ray Fisher, Jeremy Irons, Diane Lane, Connie Nielsen, J.K. Simmons, and Ciarán Hinds.
