Justice League director Zack Snyder opened up about a plot hole involving Darkseid and the Anti-Life Equation.

It took a long time, but a cinematic Darkseid has finally arrived in Zack Snyder’s Justice League. The film teased an overarching story for the villain as he hunts the Anti-Life Equation through the cosmos. And as it turns out, it’s carved into the Earth for some reason. But as we saw in the film, his first attempt at conquering the planet didn’t go so well. and then for some reason he lost Earth’s location and never found it again before Steppenwolf discovered it. It’s a bizarre point that many fans spotted during the film, but now the director himself has provided an answer surrounding the plot hole.

When asked about Darkseid forgetting where Earth is by a fan on Vero, Zack Snyder explained that the villain was preoccupied with not dying when he returned home to the fiery planet of Apokolips. The director also revealed that Darkseid battled for control of the planet for quite some time, and when he was back in the seat of power all his advisors from his original assault had been killed. Still, it sounds like Darkseid’s got a terrible memory.

“He almost died when he returned to Apokolips, he was in a fight for power and much time passed before he was in a position of power again, and by then all who had been with him had been slayed.”

“In ZACK SNYDER’S JUSTICE LEAGUE, determined to ensure Superman’s (Henry Cavill) ultimate sacrifice was not in vain, Bruce Wayne (Ben Affleck) aligns forces with Diana Prince (Gal Gadot) with plans to recruit a team of metahumans to protect the world from an approaching threat of catastrophic proportions. The task proves more difficult than Bruce imagined, as each of the recruits must face the demons of their own pasts to transcend that which has held them back, allowing them to come together, finally forming an unprecedented league of heroes. Now united, Batman (Affleck), Wonder Woman (Gadot), Aquaman (Jason Momoa), Cyborg (Ray Fisher) and The Flash (Ezra Miller) may be too late to save the planet from Steppenwolf, DeSaad and Darkseid and their dreadful intentions.”
