A cryptic Thanksgiving post from Justice League director Zack Snyder hints that he’s working on a Final Crisis project.
Ah, Thanksgiving. A time to spend time with your family, complain about politics, and a Final Crisis project? In Zack Snyder’s post on Thanksgiving evening, the director shared a photo of a turkey. The image may seem innocent enough but eagle-eyed fans quickly realized that a copy of the Darkseid-focused Absolute Final Crisis loomed in the background. The placement of the storied comic seemed almost deliberate. The not-so-subtle reference has left many wondering if Zack Snyder is returning to the DC Extended Universe with a Final Crisis project.
Recently, artist Clay Staub drew up a design that saw Darkseid and Desaad together, with the #ZackSnydersJusticeLeague hashtag in tow, implying a new project with the two was in the works.
Staub later clarified that the sketch was just something he drew up while watching Zack Snyder’s director’s cut of Justice League. Coupled with Snyder’s Thanksgiving post? It looks like something could be happening.
Zack Snyder is no stranger to cryptic social media posts. After all, the existence of his Justice League directors cut manifested in part due to his various postings on social media sites like Vero and Twitter. An Absolute Crisis project would make sense for Snyder’s trajectory for the DCEU as it focused on Darkseid finding the Anti-Life Equation.
Here is the synopsis for Zack Snyder’s Justice League:
“In ZACK SNYDER’S JUSTICE LEAGUE, determined to ensure Superman’s (Henry Cavill) ultimate sacrifice was not in vain, Bruce Wayne (Ben Affleck) aligns forces with Diana Prince (Gal Gadot) with plans to recruit a team of metahumans to protect the world from an approaching threat of catastrophic proportions. The task proves more difficult than Bruce imagined, as each of the recruits must face the demons of their own pasts to transcend that which has held them back, allowing them to come together, finally forming an unprecedented league of heroes. Now united, Batman (Affleck), Wonder Woman (Gadot), Aquaman (Jason Momoa), Cyborg (Ray Fisher) and The Flash (Ezra Miller) may be too late to save the planet from Steppenwolf, DeSaad and Darkseid and their dreadful intentions.”
The Snyder Cut stars Ben Affleck, Henry Cavill, Amy Adams, Gal Gadot, Ezra Miller, Jason Momoa, Ray Fisher, Jeremy Irons, Diane Lane, Connie Nielsen, J.K. Simmons, and Ciarán Hinds.
