Justice League director Zack Snyder had a full vision for the DCEU which would’ve ended in a Flashpoint-inspired reboot.

Over the last few years it’s become increasingly obvious that Zack Snyder had a sprawling plan for the DC Extended Universe, but surprisingly that also included how to bring it to an end. Storyboard artist Jay Olivia recently appeared on a panel at Justice Con to discuss his DCEU work when he revealed that Snyder had planned to end the universe using a “Flashpoint kind of reboot.”

We already knew that the planned Justice League sequels would’ve involved time-travel as the heroes try to defeat Darkseid, but Zack Snyder’s overall story went much further according to Jay Olivia. He explained that there would’ve been a four or five part story before rebooting the universe with an event similar to Flashpoint, before bringing in a new cast. We already know that Ezra Miller’s The Flash (which just started filming) will also take its cues from the classic alternate timeline story, but it’s not clear if it’ll change the entire direction of the DCEU. Take a look at Jay Olivia’s Flashpoint comments below.

“I think that was the plan was that they would do like the four or five parters, and then we would do a Flashpoint kind of reboot, where you can bring in a new cast afterwards.”

Do you think the DCEU should’ve used Flashpoint to reboot the on-screen continuity? What did you think to Zack Snyder’s Justice League? Sound-off in the comments below!

Here is the official synopsis for the Zack Snyder cut:

“In ZACK SNYDER’S JUSTICE LEAGUE, determined to ensure Superman’s (Henry Cavill) ultimate sacrifice was not in vain, Bruce Wayne (Ben Affleck) aligns forces with Diana Prince (Gal Gadot) with plans to recruit a team of metahumans to protect the world from an approaching threat of catastrophic proportions. The task proves more difficult than Bruce imagined, as each of the recruits must face the demons of their own pasts to transcend that which has held them back, allowing them to come together, finally forming an unprecedented league of heroes. Now united, Batman (Affleck), Wonder Woman (Gadot), Aquaman (Jason Momoa), Cyborg (Ray Fisher) and The Flash (Ezra Miller) may be too late to save the planet from Steppenwolf, DeSaad and Darkseid and their dreadful intentions.”

Directed by Zack Snyder, Justice League stars Ben Affleck, Henry Cavill, Amy Adams, Gal Gadot, Ezra Miller, Jason Momoa, Ray Fisher, Jeremy Irons, Diane Lane, Connie Nielsen, J. K. Simmons and Ciarán Hinds.
