‘Zack Snyder’s Justice League’ Features Surprising ‘Spider-Man’ Easter Egg

With great power, comes great Easter eggs.

Justice League Zack Snyder Spider-Man

A blink-and-you’ll-miss-it moment in Zack Snyder’s Justice League featured a brilliant Spider-Man Easter egg.

Zack Snyder’s Justice League is crammed full of new scenes, new characters, and references to the wider DC Extended Universe. But in a surprising moment, the film also included a playful reference to a classic Spider-Man character. The Easter egg was spotted and quickly revealed on Twitter following most DC fans watching Justice League on the day of release, with the high demand even crashing HBO Max at one point.

The brilliant Easter egg makes a joke at Uncle Ben’s expense during the scene where the team fight off a newly resurrected Superman. When the Man of Steel spots the Flash running towards him and engages in a brief duel, Barry Allen winds up crashing into the Metropolis monument. And for a brief second, we can see the name ‘Ben Parker’ etched into stone which honors the dead citizens. Surely, with a name like that it would be impossible to not think of the possible connotations, so the Spider-Man reference must be deliberate from the director or one of the production team. Here is the official synopsis for the Snyder Cut:

“In ZACK SNYDER’S JUSTICE LEAGUE, determined to ensure Superman’s (Henry Cavill) ultimate sacrifice was not in vain, Bruce Wayne (Ben Affleck) aligns forces with Diana Prince (Gal Gadot) with plans to recruit a team of metahumans to protect the world from an approaching threat of catastrophic proportions. The task proves more difficult than Bruce imagined, as each of the recruits must face the demons of their own pasts to transcend that which has held them back, allowing them to come together, finally forming an unprecedented league of heroes. Now united, Batman (Affleck), Wonder Woman (Gadot), Aquaman (Jason Momoa), Cyborg (Ray Fisher) and The Flash (Ezra Miller) may be too late to save the planet from Steppenwolf, DeSaad and Darkseid and their dreadful intentions.”

Directed by Zack Snyder, Justice League stars Ben Affleck, Henry Cavill, Amy Adams, Gal Gadot, Ezra Miller, Jason Momoa, Ray Fisher, Jeremy Irons, Diane Lane, Connie Nielsen, J. K. Simmons, and Ciarán Hinds.
