Former Warner Bros. and DC filmmaker Zack Snyder recently unveiled his The Stone Quarry production company.
After ending his participation in the DC Cinematic Universe with Justice League, Zack Snyder’s next venture seems to take him to a more independent scene where he can now develop content on his own terms. The news broke out from social media Vero where Zack Snyder posted this image announcing The Stone Quarry as his new company identity after “14 amazing years making groundbreaking entertainment under the Cruel & Unusual Films Moniker”. Twitter user @ItsDavery shared the picture on Twitter since Zack Snyder announcements are only featured on Vero.

Snyder excitement to announce The Stone Quarry contrasts his abrupt exit from the Warner Bros./DC film universe to deal with his daughter’s suicide during the Justice League final stages. He’s widely considered as the father of the visual style of Man Of Steel, Batman vs. Superman: Dawn of Justice, Suicide Squad, and Justice League which mimic the filmmaking style of his earlier work in movies like 300 or Sucker Punch. Most of these movies would later impact the construction of characters such as Wonder Woman or Aquaman, which were developed even further by Directors Patty Jenkins and James Wan, respectively.
Zack Snyder superhero films and his vision for the rest of DC characters was received with a mixture of opinions from fans and critics alike. While some praised its dark style and approach to characters like Superman or Batman, others criticized it up to the point of blaming Zack Snyder for the weak critical performance of DC’s films. His exit from the DC Cinematic Universe allowed Warner Bros. to focus on other talented filmmakers to take Snyder’s mantle and develop his vision to another level.
Even though we’re still aways from what The Stone Quarry might develop on their future, we’re certain it will have that visual Zack Snyder talent behind it. We’ll update you on future Zack Snyder projects under his new label as we know more.
