The streaming landscape got a significant jolt today, as Netflix released the long-awaited teaser trailer for Zack Snyder’s Rebel Moon.
Known for his work on 300 and the DC Extended Universe, Zack Snyder brings his distinct style to the screen once more. The Rebel Moon teaser trailer hints at another expansive world, complete with cosmic cities and intriguing characters.
Sofia Boutella leads Rebel Moon
From the get-go, Rebel Moon doesn’t hold back. Stellar landscapes, cosmic wonders, and intense action sequences dominate the sneak peek, which runs for nearly 4 minutes despite being labeled as a “teaser.” Sofia Boutella appears to be at the center of it all. Check out the trailer below.
The story of Rebel Moon is described as follows by Netflix: “The star-trotting epic Rebel Moon is about Kora (Sofia Boutella), a lone-wolf soldier who’s found community and connection on the quiet farming moon of Veldt. She’s a long way away from her former life fighting for the Imperium, the brutal interstellar royal empire bent on controlling the galaxy. But Kora’s violent past is dredged up when sadistic admiral Atticus Noble (Ed Skrein) comes to Veldt via a Dreadnought-class battle cruiser and stirs up deadly trouble on the orders of the Imperium’s tyrannical regent, Balisarius (Fra Fee)”
Zack Snyder has previously described Rebel Moon as a story originally developed as his take on the Seven Samurai story set within the Star Wars Universe. It has since been repurposed as part of its own original cinematic world, and potentially the launch of yet another genre film series with Netflix, along with Army of the Dead, which debuted on the service in 2021.
