Zack Snyder Returns To Movies With ‘Army of the Dead’ For Netflix

Netflix Man of Steel Zack Snyder Superman

Zack Snyder is officially back to filmmaking with a new film from Netflix.

Zack Snyder took a break from movies after the death of his daughter and it’s been more than two years since his last go at directing. Fans of the filmmaker have long awaited his next movie and now it looks like they won’t have to wait for long. According to THR, Zack Snyder is returning with a film from Netflix titled Army of the Dead.

The director crafted the story and it has a script by Joby Harold. The film’s is described as an action adventure movie that takes place during a zombie outbreak in Las Vegas and a man assembles a team of mercenaries to venture into the quarantined zone to pull off the greatest heist ever attempted. Netflix takes over the project from Warner Bros. and Army of the Dead may have a $90 million budget.

Zack Snyder had this to say about returning to filmmaking for Army of the Dead:

There are no handcuffs on me at all with this one, I thought this was a good palate cleanser to really dig in with both hands and make something fun and epic and crazy and bonkers in the best possible way. I love to honor canon and the works of art, but this is the opportunity to find a purely joyful way to express myself though a genre. It will be the most kick-ass, self-aware — but not in a wink-to-the-camera way — balls-to-the-wall zombie freakshow that anyone has ever seen. No one’s ever let me completely loose [like this].  “I love big action, I love big sequences. My movie brain starts clicking around and I was like, ‘We need to be shooting this now!’ Constructing these sequences really fired me up. When the movie gets super big, you get pushed away from the camera, And in the last few years I’ve had a reconnection with photography. This movie will be a chance to get the camera in hand.
