Zack Snyder took to his Vero account today to share a new image of Ben Affleck as Batman from last year’s superhero epic Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice.

While Zack Snyder launched the DCEU with Man of Steel in 2013, Batman v Superman saw the introduction of Affleck as the Dark Knight who was left questioning his crusade after the people of Earth learned of Superman’s existence when the last son of Krypton discovered a crashed Kryptonian ship, leading to an invasion of the planet by General Zod. Ultimately, Bruce Wayne lost his faith in humanity and pursued a vendetta to destroy Superman, convinced he was a threat to humanity.

In his post, Zack Snyder reveals the dark and moody photo of Affleck as Batman was captured with his 4×5 large format camera in his post. You can check it out below.

Ben Affleck will next be seen on the silver screen donning the cape and cowl when Justice League hits theaters this fall.  The film stars Ben Affleck as Batman, Gal Gadot as Wonder Woman, Henry Cavill as Superman, Jason Momoa as Aquaman, Ezra Miller as The Flash, Ray Fisher as Cyborg, Jesse Eisenberg as Lex Luthor, Jeremy Irons as Alfred, Amy Adams as Lois Lane, Amber Heard as Mera, J.K. Simmons as Jim Gordon, Kiersey Clemons as Iris West, Julian Lewis Jones, and Willem Dafoe are also set to appear. Here’s the official synopsis:

Fueled by his restored faith in humanity and inspired by Superman’s selfless act, Bruce Wayne enlists the help of his newfound ally, Diana Prince, to face an even greater enemy. Together, Batman and Wonder Woman work quickly to find and recruit a team of metahumans to stand against this newly awakened threat. But despite the formation of this unprecedented league of heroes—Batman, Wonder Woman, Aquaman, Cyborg and The Flash—it may already be too late to save the planet from an assault of catastrophic proportions.

Justice League hits theaters November 17, 2017.
