Netflix Sets Official Release Date For Zack Snyder’s ‘Rebel Moon’

Zack Snyder’s Rebel Moon is coming to Netflix in Winter 2023.

Netflix has announced that Rebel Moon is making its debut on December 22nd, with the streaming giant revealing the first official image from the Zack Snyder-directed movie. The image features Sophia Boutella, who spearheads the film’s cast as a character named Kora, described by Snyder as “the reluctant hero from a peaceful colony who is about to find she’s her people’s last hope.”

A few seconds of footage from Rebel Moon can also be seen towards the end of Netflix’s 2023 preview video.

Zack Snyder has previously described Rebel Moon as a story originally developed as his take on the Seven Samurai story set within the Star Wars Universe. It has since been repurposed as part of its own original cinematic world, and potentially the launch of yet another genre film series with Netflix, along with Army of the Deadwhich debuted on the service in 2021.

Directed by Zack Snyder from a script he wrote with Shay Hatten and Kurt Johnstad, Rebel Moon also stars Sofia Boutella, Charlie Hunnam, Ray Fisher, Djimon Hounsou, Jena Malone, Corey Stoll, Ed Skrein, Cleopatra Coleman, Fra Fee, Cary Elwes, Anthony Hopkins, Stuart Martin, Alfonso Herrera, Michiel Huisman, Staz Nair, E. Duffy, Charlotte Maggi, Sky Yang and Rhian Rees.
