Zoe Saldana Shares Time-Lapse Of Applying Gamora Makeup

'Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2' star Zoe Saldana shares a video of her having the makeup for Gamora applied onto herself.

The Guardians of the Galaxy would not be complete without their badass heroine, Gamora (Zoe Saldana). Saldana has become a modern sci-fi icon with her roles in the rebooted Star Trek series, Avatar and of course, Guardians of the Galaxy.

To portray Gamora onscreen, Saldana has to undergo around 3 hours of makeup. She could have opted to take the computer-generated route to make her skin look green like Gamora’s, but credit to her and the creative team behind Guardians of the Galaxy to immerse herself physically into this role.

Saldana shared a video on her official Twitter account in which she has her Gamora makeup applied onto her. It features 3 hours worth of work condensed into only 38 seconds.

Here, we see all the hard work the makeup artists commit to in making sure our performers are able to project the images that we loved from the panels on the comic book pages, to the big screen in live-action form.

You can see the video down below:

Sitting down while the artists apply the makeup and hairstyle for your particular character seems tedious, but thank you Zoe Saldana, Dave Bautista (Drax), Michael Rooker (Yondu), Karen Gillan (Nebula) and Pom Klementieff (Mantis) for committing yourselves to your characters. Also, thank you to the makeup artists and hairstylists for the impeccable artistry that helps add more life to the world of the Guardians.

Set to the backdrop of ‘Awesome Mixtape #2,’ Marvel’s Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 continues the team’s adventures as they traverse the outer reaches of the cosmos. The Guardians must fight to keep their newfound family together as they unravel the mysteries of Peter Quill’s true parentage. Old foes become new allies and fan-favorite characters from the classic comics will come to our heroes’ aid as the Marvel cinematic universe continues to expand.

Written and directed by James Gunn and starring Chris Pratt, Zoe Saldana, Dave Bautista, Vin Diesel, Bradley Cooper, Michael Rooker, Karen Gillan, Pom Klementieff, Elizabeth Debicki, Chris Sullivan, Sean Gunn, Sylvester Stallone and Kurt Russell, Marvel’s Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 launches into theaters on May 5, 2017.
